HistoryHappy State Bank first opened its doors in 1908 as First State Bank, Happy, Texas, and proudly served the Happy community for 81 years. In 1990, Board Chair J. Pat Hickman and a group of investors formed Happy Bancshares, Inc. and purchased the bank, which had six employees and just over $10 million in total assets. At that time, Happy ranked #812 in assets out of 880 Texas banks.
