History
Happy State Bank first opened its doors in 1908 as First State Bank, Happy, Texas, and proudly served the Happy community for 81 years. In 1990, Board Chair J. Pat Hickman and a group of investors formed Happy Bancshares, Inc. and purchased the bank, which had six employees and just over $10 million in total assets. At that time, Happy ranked #812 in assets out of 880 Texas banks. In 2004, the bank's name was changed to the unforgettable Happy State Bank, and today, it has over $5 billion in assets, nearly 60 locations across Texas and is ranked one of the top 20 banks in the state.
