Giddings State School, formerly known as Giddings State Home and School, is responsible for the rehabilitation of delinquent youths. Founded in 1972, it offers programs designed to promote personal accountability of youths by removing their justifications for delinquent behaviors. The facility provides employment opportunities in food service, maintenance and administration activities. It is a part of the Texas Youth Commission, which promotes public safety by operating juvenile correctional facilities. The Texas Youth Commission provides a variety of individualized education, treatment and employment training programs. The commission reports youth mistreatment, fraud and illegal activities. It complies with the federal, local and state laws.
