History
Roger Friedeck and his wife, Sheila, came to Vidor in 1979 as childless newlyweds when Roger was transferred here as manager of the local Perry's. When that company went out of business at the end of 1997, Roger went to work for another chain store, which pulled out of Texas in late 2001. Having always wanted his own business, he decided he could either look for another job, or try his hand at launching his own business and, if it failed, find a job then. With Sheila's job providing some financial security, this was the time to take the chance. The couple knew they wanted to continue running the custom picture framing shop they already owned; and they knew the garden center would be a keystone of their business. The other portions of the business were based on a drive through small towns in Texas taking note of what their towns had that Vidor needed. Thus was born the odd mix of businesses: plants/signs/picture frames/trophies/keys/ and metal buildings-- fulfilling many needs.
