McAllen Family Medicine Residency Program was established in 1977 to train family doctors to provide medical services for the residents of South Texas. Its academic curriculum includes family practice, inpatient medicine, internal medicine, neonatology, geriatric medicine, obstetrics, gynecology, emergency medicine and pediatrics. It also specializes in surgery, cardiology, orthopedics, psychiatry, dermatology, urology and ophthalmology. It has a medical clinic that is spread over an area of more than 18,400 square feet and McAllen Medical Center that has over 450 beds to provide acute medical care services. The organization is located in McAllen, Texas, and has been approved by the University of Texas San Antonio Health Science Center.
