The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service has been educating families since 1969, offering nutrition education classes for both adults and youth in ten Texas counties. EFNEP's trained educators teach basic nutrition, food safety, budget-friendly shopping, and food preparation skills through hands-on activities and easy-to-understand materials.
Funded by the USDA's Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service, EFNEP aims to improve the health and well-being of vulnerable limited-resource families and youth by providing practical and engaging nutrition education. With a focus on diverse audiences and languages, EFNEP serves communities in Bexar, Cameron, Dallas, El Paso, Fort Bend, Harris, Hidalgo, Nueces, Tarrant, Travis, and Willacy counties.
