The Cullen Eye Institute, a part of Baylor College of Medicine, is one of the leading centers for ophthalmologic education, research and clinical care in the United States. The institute provides educational programs for ophthalmology research scientists, practicing ophthalmologists, residents and fellows, and medical and graduate students. It supports various research projects on the structure, function and diseases of the eye and the visual system. The institute also sponsors public programs for prevention of eye diseases and injuries. The Cullen Eye Institute additionally offers the Boston Ocular Surface Prosthesis, which is a treatment that restores vision and relieves eye pain in patients who suffer from severe diseases of the cornea.
