History
*Vacation rental and Micro-event rental* (MAX 10 guests) Cottage 313 a very special home with a deep history in the Houston East End. The home was originally built in 1930, and though the original builder of this Victorian style cottage still remains unknown, we believe the owners were patron or clergy members of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. The home was purchased by the Alvarado family in 1938 and soon after they converted the living room into a small neighborhood grocery store. They provided fresh produce, Mexican baked goods, candies, tamale's and more to the neighborhood until the 1970's. Mrs. Maria Alvarado loved to cook & bake and her original 1940's stove is still used at Cottage 313! Our family purchased the home in 2010 and in 2018, we decided to open it up as a one of a kind rental, because cottages like this are disappearing across Houston. We hope sharing our home's story with others will save it from becoming another victim of East End developers!
