Founded in 1991, the Rio Grande Valley Council is a nonprofit organization that offers substance abuse prevention, intervention and treatment programs. It serves individuals, families, schools, and human resource and business organizations. The council provides direct services to children in schools and treatment to youths and adults in office-based outpatient settings, as well as educational programs to employers and their staff members. The Rio Grande Valley Council provides public information and dissemination though community presentations, involvement in the Red Ribbon Week and participation in community events with booths, puppet shows, educational materials and flyers. It offers crisis intervention and diagnostic assessment, placement and follow-up services. In addition, the council provides individual, group and family counseling services. The Rio Grande Valley Council Headquarters is located in Pharr, Texas.
