Ardent Development team is highly experienced in multifamily development in Austin, Texas. In particular, Ardent is especially adept at navigating the difficult City of Austin entitlement and permitting process and has been intimately involved in numerous City of Austin land use and development task forces. For these reasons, Ardent is generally recognized to be particularly skilled in identifying and entitling development land within Austin's urban core. Prior to forming Ardent Residential, Art Carpenter, Brett Denton and Greg Smyrl worked together at JPI Development. Together, Carpenter, Denton and Smyrl have 56 years of experience in multifamily and other development and have built approximately 14, 500 multifamily units in Austin, Houston, Phoenix and Denver (Carpenter with JPI and Denton with JPI and Gables) and provided asset management for an additional 8, 625 units (Smyrl with JPI). Art Carpenter and Brett Denton have developed more multifamily properties in Austin than any other developers in the market. This fact reflects the dominant position JPI occupied in the Austin market in the 1990s and Gables has played in the current decade. In addition to extensive multifamily experience, Ardent has become well known for providing development and project management services to four and five star resort projects. These projects include new spas, pools, room renovations and villa developments in the Continental U.S. and in the Caribbean. Ardent has provided development and project management services for Little Dix Bay (Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands), Four Seasons Resort Nevis (Nevis, West Indies), Four Seasons Hotel Houston (Houston, Texas), The Carlyle Hotel (New York, New York) and others.
