History
Jo Dean and Richard Aleksander developed a process to turn art prints into painting-like canvases in the 1970s, selling them at art shows and to frame retailers and wholesalers to feature with their frames. Opening our first retail art gallery in 1978, we added framing to our product line. Some of the first customers of our retail gallery were members of the Texas Legislature, whom we served with free pick up and delivery. Today many Aleksander Gallery frames hang in the Texas State Capitol. In 1982 we relocated the gallery to Austin's East Sixth Street where we framed poster art and contributed to the renaissance of Austin's downtown. We had a large store on the north end of Central Market in the early 2000s, and in 2004 moved operations to a portion of our large residence in West Austin. Today we operate from our home, at 1803 Northridge Drive, near the Mueller Airport Development, close to I-35 and US 290..
