U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company manufactures and markets several brands of moist smokeless tobacco throughout the world. Its most popular brands are Copenhagen and Skoal. Copenhagen, its flagship brand, was introduced in 1822 and Skoal was introduced in 1934. The company s additional brands include Rooster, Red Seal and Husky. U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company sells more than 1.7 million cans of moist smokeless tobacco per day, or nearly 640 million cans annually. It purchases 100 percent American-grown tobacco. In 2001, the company changed its name from United States Tobacco Company to U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company to accurately reflect its position in the tobacco industry.
