The Henderson County Sheriff s Department, located in Lexington, Tenn., is a full-service law enforcement agency. It operates approximately 80-bed jail that provides detention facilities for pretrial detainees and convicted criminals. The Henderson County Sheriff s Department has a patrol division that is responsible for patrolling more than 500 square miles of Henderson County, Tenn., as well as answering calls for service. The department serves various civil and criminal processes, provides court room security, assists with inmate control within the jail, and transports mentally impaired individuals and prisoners. The Henderson County Sheriff s Department also maintains a criminal interdiction unit that performs duties related to intercepting the illegal flow of narcotics traveling on the interstate and highways.
