History
The Rutherford County Farmers' Market (RCFM) was established in 1975 for the purpose of providing: (1) a distribution point for fresh, home-grown vegetables to which consumers might not otherwise have access and (2) an outlet for surplus home-grown products that would enable local producers to realize economic gains. It was established by the Murfreesboro City Council, the Rutherford County Court, and the Rutherford County Agricultural Extension Service for the purpose of serving citizens of Rutherford County and the Middle Tennessee area. The RCFM was relocated from the open shed on South Front Street adjacent to Cannonsburgh Village to the Lane Agri-Park Community Center in 2009. The Lane Agri-Park Community Center is a publically-owned facility. Being procured and built with public funds, the facility is subject to all public laws, rules, and regulations governing public property.
