The Department of Finance is a part of Knox County Government, which provides various services to the residents of Knox County, Tenn. The department is responsible for monitoring the receipt of funds, coordinating the creation of budgets, reviewing actual expenses and paying employees who report to the Knox County mayor. It is also responsible for risk management functions. The Department of Finance operates central accounting, payroll and purchasing divisions. Its other divisions include budget and cash management. The department also prepares and presents budget, audit and annual reports. Its purchasing division provides purchasing, supplier diversity, property management and mailroom services.
