Hugh learned the art of mushroom cultivation from Paul Stamets when he went out to Washington State in March of 2007 to one of his in-depth workshops. He learned tissue culture, spawn generation techniques, substrate preparation, inoculation techniques, and strategies for maximizing yields. He went back in June of 2007 to a two day intensive workshop that discussed the current practices, evaluation of strategies, and choice of the appropriate fungal candidates for Mycorestoration. He then decide to start his own business to share the knowledge of mushrooms with others.
