Inadequate telephone service sparked the citizens crusade that led to the founding of Ben Lomand Telephone Co-op in 1952. The co-op, now the United States fifth-largest telephone cooperative, provides nearly 40,000 customers in Warren County in south central Tennessee with a variety of telephone and Internet services. Within its basic services, the cooperative also offers specialized services such as anonymous call rejection, automatic callback, call forwarding, caller ID, call waiting, three-way calling, wakeup calls, Web hosting, domain registration, content filtering, mail filtering, popup blocking, ad-ware and spy-ware removal, security and virus alerts and system maintenance. Ben Lomand Telephone Co-op has headquarters in McMinnville, Tenn. It operates additional offices in Spencer, Sparta and Tracy City.
