Alabama Veterinary Medical Association, also known as ALVMA, provides a variety of educational opportunities. It increases the public awareness of the importance of veterinarians in animal health and disease control services. The association also promotes and supports legislation. Alabama Veterinary Medical Association offers disaster assistance services. In addition, it provides direct and informed liaison services for veterinarians with county and state health department officials. The association sponsors rabies, heartworm and other animal disease awareness programs through radios, televisions and newspapers. Alabama Veterinary Medical Association also supplies displays for county fairs and public schools. It operates animal welfare, economics, finance, radiology and public relations committees. Alabama Veterinary Medical Association also sells educational books.
