The South Dakota Grassland Coalition is a producer-driven organization focused on the sustainable and profitable management of private land. With a nine-member board consisting of landowners involved in production agriculture, they collaborate with various partners to provide up-to-date, science-based educational opportunities and information to grass managers and the general public in South Dakota.
The coalition aims to promote ranching practices that are sustainable and increase profitability, preserve small towns and the ranching economy, enhance water quality, reduce runoff into streams and lakes, and increase the abundance of wildlife. They offer programs such as the Grazing School and Range Consulting Program to help producers learn how to best manage grasslands for the benefit of the land, livestock, wildlife, and people.
