Crazy Horse Memorial is a mountain monument, and is located in Crazy Horse, S.D. The work was begun in 1948 by sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski at the request of Native Americans. It houses the Indian Museum of North America and the Native American Cultural Center, which is dedicated to the 1996 Native American day celebration. It has the Sculptor s Studio, as well as a new 40,000-square-foot orientation center. The Crazy Horse Memorial education center offers theater style seating for more than 250 people; breakout and small group rooms; restaurant and food service on premises; and reception, banquet and buffet capabilities. Its gift shop offers clothing for adults and children, books, audiovisual materials, postcards, bookstore and cookbooks. It has various clubs, such as Bronze, Granite, Ruth's, Korczak's and Driller's Clubs.
