Founded in 1961, The University of South Carolina Aiken, also known as USC Aiken, enrolls more than 3,000 students. It is a public, coeducational university that offers undergraduate and master's degree programs in the fields of history, biology, chemistry, math, engineering, philosophy, political science, psychology and fine arts. The university additionally provides graduate courses through the USC Extended Graduate Campus program. Its campus spreads across an area of over 450 acres. It maintains a library and offers sports activities, such as baseball, basketball, soccer, tennis, golf and volleyball. Founded in 1869, Claflin University is an independent, coeducational institution that is affiliated with the United Methodist Church. It offers a variety of academic programs to more than 1,800 students in it s over 40-acre facility. It offers master s degree in business education, biotechnology, management and education. Claflin University also offers bachelor s degrees in early childhood education, human performance and recreation, middle level education, art, history and sociology.
