The owners, Charles Lee and Laura Black, started a catering company in 2005 named Fatboys Lowcountry Cooking and Catering. They specialized in southern favorites like oyster roasts and pig pickins. Over the years, they expanded to serving their food at events and festivals in the area and have a boiled peanut trailer on Folly Beach. The local response was phenominal and it seemed that people wanted more, so they decided to open a restaurant allowing people to enjoy traditional southern culinary favorites any time;; and so The Mason Jar by Fatboys was born.
