History
Barry Frick has always been known as the RiverRat. He's paddled Lynches River since he was just a boy. In 2008, Barry bought six old canoes from a buddy. He would let his friends borrow them, then one day they started paying him to use them, next thing you know other people are asking to borrow them. And just like that, RiverRat's began. We now house 100 or more boats and take trips down Lynches River 7 days a week. Barry's family helps run the business: wife-Marie, son-Jay, daughter-Heather, son-in-law-Hughes, and daughter-in-law-Allie.
Specialties
Paddle amongst the Bald Cypress of the beautiful Lynches River. Lynches River rises in NC near Waxhaw at about 700 feet elevation, flowing on a short distance to the SC border, and joins the Pee Dee River near Johnsonville. It is about 140 miles long. The section starting at Lee State Park and ending at Big Pee Dee River has been designated as the longest wild and scenic river in SC. RiverRat's happens to be located about center of the scenic river section. It's the perfect spot to kayak, swim on sandy beaches, catch critters, and to lose track of time in the slow pace of the great outdoors!
