Nicholas Fuerst, MD, is a pulmonary and critical care physician at Prisma Health in Upstate South Carolina. He cares for a variety of lung diseases that can lead to symptoms like shortness of breath or cough, and he has a particular interest in thoracic oncology and bronchoscopy. Additionally, he oversees the care of critically ill patients in the ICU, and enjoys teaching medical trainees of all levels. Originally from Houston, Texas, Dr. Fuerst moved to Viriginia for his undergraduate studies in Mathematics at Washington and Lee University. He attended medical school at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. Dr. Fuerst then moved to Norfolk, Virginia, to complete his internal medicine residency and chief resident year at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Following this, he completed his pulmonary and critical care fellowship training at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. In his free time, Dr. Fuerst enjoys spending time with his wife and children, traveling, exploring new restaurants, playing golf and pickleball, and supporting his Houston Astros and Texas Longhorns.
