Cecily Ellen Lykes, DO
Cecily Lykes, DO, MS, is a board-certified general surgeon with fellowship training in complex gastrointestinal and foregut surgery at Prisma Health in Columbia, South Carolina. She practices a wide range of general surgery, including skin and soft tissue, endocrine (thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal), benign and malignant breast (male and female), foregut surgery, colon and other gastrointestinal surgery, and hernia repair. Her specialization includes primary and revision foregut surgery for hiatal/paraesophageal hernias, achalasia, anti-reflux surgery and other complex intraabdominal pathology. She also has a clinical interest in breast surgery. She specializes in robotic surgery but offers other approaches such as laparoscopic or open surgery when applicable. Originally from Colorado, Dr. Lykes completed her medical education at the Rocky Vista University School of Medicine in Denver, Colorado. She completed a general surgery internship at Madigan Army Medical Center and subsequently served as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Army prior to finishing her general surgery residency at Prisma Health/University of South Carolina in Columbia. She then completed a fellowship in complex gastrointestinal and foregut surgery at Methodist Hospital in Richardson, Texas. She returned to Columbia to start her surgical practice at Prisma Health Baptist and Parkridge hospitals. Dr. Lykes is a member of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract (SSAT), Association of Women Surgeons (AWS), Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma (EAST) and the American Medical Association. She and her husband, Elias (a native of Columbia and small business owner) enjoy cooking, gardening, hiking, boating, and spending time with their two fur-babies and friends and family.
