Dr. Bell was raised in Sumter, South Carolina where she attended Wilson Hall School. Both her mother, a physical therapist, and father, the medical director of the emergency department, had fulfilling careers in medicine. She knew early on that she wanted to continue their legacy of caring for the community. Her college years were spent at the College of Charleston where she completed research on circadian rhythms and earned a BS in biology with a minor in neuroscience. She then attended medical school in Blacksburg, VA and residency at the University of South Carolina Prisma Health Richland. During residency, Dr. Bell, was honored with excellence awards in minimally invasive surgery, teaching, and research. Her surgical research has been featured at local and national conferences. Her continuing areas of interest include minimally invasive surgery and peripartum mental health.
