Holy Spirit Evangelical Lutheran Church is the December 2006 consolidation of the 150-year-old St. Andrew's congregation in downtown Charleston, and the 60-year-old Holy Comforter congregation in West Ashley. The congregation is led by Reverend Elizabeth Platts, and the church seeks to be involved not only in the lives of its parishoners, but the community at large through outreach initiatives such as food pantry collection for Tricounty Family Ministries. The church plays host to several youth programs and religious study groups throughout the week.
