The S.C. Department of Disabilities and Special Needs, also known as DDSN, serves individuals and families with mental retardation, autism, and traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries. It operates regional centers in Columbia, Florence, Clinton, Summerville and Hartsville in South Carolina. The department provides early intervention, respite care and individual rehabilitation support solutions. The S.C. Department of Disabilities and Special Needs also offers genetic evaluation, treatment and counseling services. It maintains Community Training Homes, as well as organizes summer camps. The department provides support employment, personal care, nursing, psychological, and physical and occupational therapy solutions. The S.C. Department of Disabilities and Special Needs is governed by the State of South Carolina.
