The Saint Andrew Society of Sarasota (SASS) is a non-profit organization established in 1979, dedicated to promoting social and cultural activities that celebrate Scottish heritage and highlight the Scottish settlement in Sarasota in 1885. SASSF, the scholarship fund associated with SASS, has awarded over $167,000 in scholarships to college-bound high school seniors from Manatee and Sarasota Counties and Lemon Bay in Charlotte County.
SASS actively sponsors and participates in various Scottish social and cultural events throughout the year, including the Burns Poetry Club, Ceilidh and dinner for St. Andrew's Day, Scottish Christmas Luncheon, Scottish Highland Games, Kirkin' o' the Tartans, and Scholarship Luncheon. Through its involvement, SASS aims to raise awareness of Sarasota's Scottish heritage and generate donations for the St. Andrew Scottish Society Scholarship Fund.
