The Sisters of Mercy is an international community of Roman Catholic women who have committed their lives to God and serve people especially those who suffer from sickness, poverty or lack of education with special concern and care for women and children. Their mission is to help people overcome the obstacles that keep them from living a full and dignified life.
The first Sisters of Mercy arrived in the United States from Ireland in 1843 and their energy in ministering to the sick and economically poor attracted many members. As the membership grew, so did their services, moving beyond healthcare and education to now include housing and social services. More than 4000 Sisters respond faithfully to the needs of the people working with lay women and men who volunteer to serve and support their missions.
The Bristol Sisters of Mercy offices are located in the Franklin Court Independent Living building on Franklin Street. Give them a call or visit their website to contact them and learn more about the services they provide to the community.
