The Park Theater was built in 1924 and has been an important city landmark ever since.
After shutting down in 2002, the theater reopened in 2009 after a $10 million renovation.
Anyone who grew up in Cranston has memories of the theater, including Mayor Allan Fung, who saw Star Wars — the first film he ever saw in a theater — when he was 10-years-old.
The theater is now a state-of-the-art multi-purpose performing arts center that features films, comedy acts, concerts and theatrical performances. It can also be booked for private and corporate events and is a frequent destination for weddings, fundraisers, meetings and civic events.
