History
Founded by Doris Duke, the Newport Restoration Foundation (NRF), a non-profit institution, was formed with the express purpose of preserving, interpreting, and maintaining landscape and objects reflecting Aquidneck Island's 18th and 19th- century architectural culture.
Specialties
The Newport Restoration Foundation is the steward of Newport, RI's built heritage and Doris Duke's vision for her collections. The organization owns 80 historic buildings, one of the largest collections of period architecture in the United States, and operates three museum properties: Rough Point, Whitehorne House and Prescott Farm.
