The system automatically identifies the location of wireline calls. With a staff of more than 50 people, it is in operation for over 20 years. The Rhode Island Enhanced 911 Uniform Emergency Telephone System handles nearly 67, 9000 calls annually. The system is a part of the Rhode Island Department of Public Safety, which is administered by the state government of Rhode Island.
