The Bureau of Workers' Compensation, also known as BWC, was established to carry out the provisions of the Workers' Compensation Act and related legislation. The bureau provides information related to various aspects of workers' compensation insurance plans. It operates the Workplace Safety Committee Program. The bureau also provides online information related to medical treatment and claims. The Bureau of Workers' Compensation operates the Uninsured Employer Guaranty Fund. The bureau is operated by the Department of Labor and Industry, which is governed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The Department of Labor and Industry employs more than 6,000 workers in over 190 offices.
