The Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole is an independent agency of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and offers supervision and investigation services. Located in Williamsport, Pa., the agency administers the Drug Offender Work Program (DOWP), which includes painting and community cleanup services for various public institutions. It also provides employment assistance services. The Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole oversees and supervises the release of low-risk defendants who have been awaiting trials. In addition, the agency administers the Substance Abuse Violators Effort (SAVE) program, which targets parole violators and includes drug and alcohol education, emotion management and assessment services. The Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole additionally handles legislative issues.
