We are a small credit union serving the west Erie County area. Currently anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Girard or Lake City is elibile to join. Membership is also available to immediate family or household members of existing members. We are governed by the NCUA, and insured by the NCUSIF (up to $250, 000 per account), so your money is absolutely safe with us. We have a volunteer Board of Directors that set policies, supervisory committee that reviews operations, and an office staff to perform the day to day operations. Please help us welcome our newest employee, Tina Warner! She was hired to fill the position left by Joyce when she retired; she'll be the other friendly voice on the phone, and at the front counter. We're very excited to add Tina as a member of our credit union family! Lake Erie Community Federal Credit Union was originally chartered as the Toymakers Federal Credit Union in 1948 to serve the employees of Marx Toys and their family members. In 1980, after Marx was bought by Quaker Oats, the parent company filed bankruptcy and the Marx Toys plant in Girard was closed. Under the leadership of the credit union manager and the Board of Directors, the credit union was re-chartered as a community credit union, open to serve its existing members and the Girard and Lake City communities.
