Originally the home of eight generations of the Tyler/Minshall/Painter family, these 650 gorgeous acres were eventually donated to the county in 1944 by Laura Tyler. Today, the tranquil arboretum still sports some of the original trees planted by Jacob and Minshall Painter back in the early 19th century, not to mention the thousand-plus varieties of other trees, shrubs and blossoms. From February through October, the arboretum hosts a number of fun events/features like the Live Butterfly House, the Pumpkin Days Festival, the Tyler at Twilight Auction and more. It's a great place to bring the family for educational fun as well as a good bit of exercise. One day passes are $9 for adults, $5 for children and $8 for seniors. Yearly memberships are $50 per individual, or save money by paying $60 per household.
