Support Center for Child Advocates, founded in 1977, is one of the oldest and largest organizations in the United States providing free legal and social services for children. The agency advocates for abused and neglected children in Philadelphia with the goal of securing a permanent and nurturing environment for every child. The agency s teams include specially trained volunteer attorneys with a staff social workers and lawyers who are specialists in child welfare practice and children's legal issues. The agency has provided legal and social service advocacy to more than 700 abused, neglected, abandoned and medically needy children. The agency offers its services through five core programs, including child protection, medically needy children, kinship care and adoption and child advocacy leadership. The agency gets referrals from courts, district attorney's office, the Department of Human Services, hospitals and private social service agencies. The agency is based in Philadelphia.
