SSPC, also known as the Society for Protective Coatings, is a nonprofit professional society that is concerned with the protection and preservation of concrete, steel, and industrial and marine structures and surfaces through the use of high-performance industrial coatings. Founded in 1950 as the Steel Structures Painting Council, it provides information related to surface preparation, coating selection, coating applications, environmental regulations, and health and safety issues. The society works with a team of more than 30 staff members. SSPC also administers several painting contractor certification programs. In addition, it organizes several dinner meetings, training courses, trade shows and golf outings.
