The First Presbyterian Church of Edgewood offers joy-filled worship in a variety of styles. Sermons are rooted in Scripture, informed by critical scholarship, theologically astute, thought-provoking and relevant to modern culture and lives. The music at FPCE honors the best of traditional organ-based hymnody while also incorporating the music of the Taizé and Iona communities, 19th century American hymnody, “contemporary” Christian music, and much more. FPCE is blessed with a number of talented instrumentalists and singers who offer more variety and skill than you are likely to find in most churches. Most Sundays an accomplished adult choir supplements and enlivens worship. FPCE is home to an annual Strawberry Festival in June, Vacation Bible School in July, and a fall festival called Harvest Happening in October. Special worship services are held on Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Christmas Eve and Easter Morning as well as every Wednesday during Advent and Lent. Throughout the year FPCE hosts special musical events featuring ensembles like the Edgewood Symphony Orchestra, The Young People’s Chorus of Erie, and the Cross Culture Jazz Quartet. Sunday School is held for both children and adults from September through May and there are other small groups that meet throughout the year for study and prayer. A grief support group meets each month. Additionally, FPCE has two Alcoholics Anonymous groups that meet weekly and it is the site of the independent Edgewood Daycare.
