History
Retro on 8th is located in Historic Homestead in the greater Pittsburgh area. Jennifer and Hayley opened a vintage furniture shop called RetroActive in the late 1990's in Forest Hills, PA. The space was tiny and rented but we cut our teeth on some really nice Thayer Coggin chairs and a danish modern sofa as well as some mod accessories. RetroActive was open for a year and then we decided to start scoping for a bigger space. We ended up in Homestead, purchasing a former shoe store and opening up Retro on 8th a few years later. Jen and I have been collecting and researching and loving mid century modern for many years. It is truly a labor of love.
