The Board of Pensions and Retirement is one of the units of the local government of the city of Pennsylvania. The board focuses on supervising the timely delivery of retirement benefits for active and retired members of the city's pension system. It is also responsible for optimally managing assets of the pension system. The board is chaired by the director of finance and includes the city solicitor, managing director, city personnel director, city controller and various members elected by the civil service employees of the city of Philadelphia. It determines the pension benefits available to city employees in accordance with city ordinances and its collective bargaining agreements. The board s office is located in Philadelphia.
