Penn State Erie, The Behrend College is one of the leading providers of higher education in the United States. Founded by Mary Behrend, Penn State Erie has been operational for more than 60 years, and enrolls over 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students annually. Spread on more than 700 acres of land, the college s facilities include indoor athletics and recreation center, residence halls, an observatory, chapel and carillon, knowledge park, and an over 160,000-square-foot research and economic development center. Its outreach initiatives include centers for corporate and continuing education, credit and consumer research, e-business and advanced information technology, mathematical biology, navigation, communication and information systems, and service leadership. Located in Erie, Pa., the college offers majors in accounting, ecology, genetics, medical technology, business administration, fine and liberal arts, computer science, communication and media studies, English and creative writing, and economics.
