John Nakayama, MD
Dr. Nakayama is a gynecologic oncologist who specializes in treating women who have ovarian, cervical, uterine, endometrial, and vulvar cancers. He has expertise in performing minimally Invasive and robot-assisted surgeries, and his research activities include inherited gynecologic cancers. After earning his medical degree from John A. Burns School of Medicine in Honolulu, Hawaii, Dr. Nakayama completed an obstetrics and gynecology residency at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. He then completed a gynecologic oncology fellowship at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. Dr. Nakayama holds several positions with NRG Oncology, a National Cancer Institute National Clinical Trials Network, including with the NRG Ovarian Cancer Core Committee and the NRG Ancillary Data Committee. He is also a member of Via Oncology and is involved in the development, funding, and implementation of a prospective randomized trial on intraoperative slipping.He welcomes patients 18 and older, and sees patients at West Penn Hospital.
