Allegheny Valley School offers a wide range of community residential and therapeutic programs for children and adults with mental retardation. The school is one of the largest providers of care for people with mental retardation in the state of Pennsylvania, while operating more than 120 facilities and programs in various counties. It also offers a variety of educational, vocational and social programs for children and adults. Allegheny Valley School feeds children through tubes and teaches them the use of wheelchairs for mobility. The school also serves individuals with visual and hearing impairments. It employs trained nursing and medical care personnel to provide specialized support services. Allegheny Valley School has its Patricia Hillman Miller campus located in Pittsburgh.
