Founded in 1952, Arthur Ashe Youth Tennis and Education, formerly known as Arthur Ashe Youth Tennis Center, offers recreational and academic opportunities for more than 8,500 children through various after-school and community programs. It administers the National Junior Tennis League's outdoor summer program. The center organizes several community program offers weekly tennis instruction to meet the state-approved physical education requirements. Arthur Ashe Youth Tennis and Education provides life lessons and teaches personal skills, such as self-discipline, good sportsmanship and nonviolent conflict resolution through recreation, academic and mentoring services. Its after-school Tennis 'N' Tutoring program serves students in elementary and middle school.
