Latrobe Specialty Steel Company is a subsidiary of the Timken Company, a provider of engineered bearings, alloy steels and related products and services. The company, which Timken acquired in 1975, is the third Timken steel producing plant, and is based in Latrop, Pa. Latrobe Specialty Steel Company provides alloy and specialty steel in the form of bars, tubing and precision steel components. Other alloy steel applications include engine shafts for aircraft and a variety of automotive applications, such as transmission components, gears, shafts and powertrain items. Latrobe s parts can be provided in a range of finished states, which includes simple cut rings, semi-finished and finished parts, as well as near-net-shapes that reduce customer machining. The company serves the automotive, aerospace, industrial, bearing and energy industries.
