The Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission administers and enforces the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act and the Pennsylvania Fair Educational Opportunities Act of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for the identification and elimination of discrimination. It organizes a wide range of educational programs and community development services. The commission offers a variety of prevention programs for civil tensions and provides information, support and outreach programs to the state communities. Its housing and commercial property division investigates complaints filed under the federal Fair Housing Act with the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The commission also has a legal division that provides various legal services, such as participating in prehearing investigations and conferences, conciliation and settlement activities, formal discovery, preliminary and public hearings before the commission. It is located in Harrisburg, Pa.
