The Head Start program, part of Westmoreland Community Action in Greensburg, Pa., is a child and family development program that promotes the well-being of low-income children and families. It addresses the educational, nutritional, health, social service and disability needs of preschool age children. The program promotes school readiness skills through educational, health and nutritional programs. It also encourages parental involvement, as well as provides transportation services. The Head Start program includes personalized home visits by certified staff, as well as organizes family meetings.
