Like the borough of Harmony itself, the Harmony Volunteer Fire Company has a rich history. The company was organized in 1874 and became incorporated in 1933. Its first piece of equipment was a hand-pulled cart bought for the company by the borough in 1913.
Over the years, the station has had several homes. In 1986, the company erected the building that today houses the engines. In 1994, a meeting room was added to the building.
Many of the volunters are longtime members or family. Tim Sapienza, the current fire chief, has been in that position since 1979. Prior to that, his father was chief for close to two decades.
